ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCES AROUND VILLA ROYALE

Location

The region can be reached within a few hours by car from southern Germany or Austria, as well as with the international airports in Rijeka or Trieste within a 45-minute transfer. A local airport for sport aircraft and small private jets is available just 10km away in Portoroz, Slovenia. Istria is in the north of the Adriatic the largest Croatian peninsula. It stretches across the Gulf of Trieste in the west to the Kvarner Bay in eastern Istria. So local excursions into nature or to beaches in Croatia, but also a visit to the Slovenian coast with the tourist resort of Portoroz, the picturesque fishing village of Piran or the port city of Köper to the vibrant life of Trieste are possible within 30-40 minutes.

From Villa Royale on Brtonigla hill you can see as far as the Italian Alps on a clear day and enjoy the lights of Grado in Italy at night. The coast, 5 km away, with its beaches and promenades can be reached in a very short time by car or bicycle. The hilly landscape of Istria is also known for great bike tours and mountain bike trails.

Pleasure and culinary delights

Istria is a mecca of pleasures for demanding people and lovers of culinary specialties of local cuisine and wine offer. Fresh fish or octopus are always on the menu. But meat specialties are also a real treat, which are often served with truffle variations. There are also a large number of beautiful historic villages in the surrounding area with small dreamy so-called konobas (family-run restaurants with ingredients from their own cultivation). But also trendy and modern restaurants right on the water tempt you to enjoy. Above all, many traditional wineries invite you to a large selection of wines and grapes.

From the Villa Royale you have the insider tip of the region right in the village of Brtonigla for scampi, but also a well-known restaurant with a great sunset terrace and excellent cuisine within walking distance. A cheese factory and wineries are also within a short walk. A selection of wines and specialties is also available in the Villa Royale.

In cities like Novigrad, Umag (15 minutes by car), Porec (30 minutes by car) or Pula (50 minutes by car) you will find vibrant life with restaurants, bars and nightclubs. There is a lot to do on the beach promenades in all cities all day long until late in the evening. Stands for souvenirs, artists and performances invite you to stroll or visit and the Croatian culture shows your hospitality and warmth.

From the Villa Royale you will find numerous destinations with many top sights such as the Brijuni National Park, the well-known Cape Kamenjak, the old town of Rovinj or the romantic Motovun. You can find beautiful architecture in the old amphitheater in Pula or a few kilometers away various sightseeing tours in very beautiful caves. Of course you have a wide range of sports activities and children. On the water you can go boating, jet skiing or simply rent water skiing, kite surfing, stand-up paddling boards. But there are also adrenaline parks, go-kart tracks, paintball areas and water parks nearby.
